Every relationship has its ups and downs. And though my unconditional love of Emily Maynard never wavers, I cannot be as forgiving of this week’s Bachelorette fashion.

You know what I’m talking about right? The butterfly dress? It was like Emily borrowed this eyesore from the Teresa Guidice collection. (You can practically see her contemplating flipping over the table in this picture, right?)

Emily has made no secret of the fact that she wants to have more babies, but something tells me bedazzling your ovaries isn’t the best way to convince your suitor to be your partner in babymaking.

This dress might go down in history as my single least favorite Bachelorette fashion item.

My elementary school principal used to say, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. And I do have some nice things to say about Emily’s fashion this week. One of my favorite pieces was this tie-dye Cynthia Vincent maxi dress. You can’t tell in this picture, but the leather detailing at the straps makes this dress more sophisticated than just another tie dye maxi dress.

Nevermind sequined embelished holometabolous insects. (I googled that.)

One of the most coveted items of the night was Emily’s beaded turquoise top from her two-on-one cave date. The beaded top is by Gryphon, and is probably not what you’d typically think to wear spelunking. Emily paired (okay, her stylist paired) the top with a pair of 7 For All Mankind white jeans and a Nikki Rich leather jacket.
I’ve heard of glamping, but now I’ve got to think of a way to Brangelina
glamorous spelunking. Glunking? Chiclunking? I’ll keep working on it.

Oh, before I forget, we only saw it for a second, but Emily wore this fashionABLE scarf on the boat for her two-on-one date. It’s not the first time we’ve seen Emily in fashionABLE. At the risk of sounding like an infomercial, I just wanted to give fashionABLE a quick plug because they’re an incredible organization that takes at-risk women in Ethiopia, rehabilitates them and teaches them to make scarves to support themselves. All the profits go back into rehabilitating and training women in Ethiopia. Check them out for more information (or just because you like the scarves.)

They say all good things come to an end and never has this been truer than of Emily’s American Girl inspired hair extensions at this week’s rose ceremony. Though her Pamella Roland one shoulder jumpsuit and The Woods layered pearl necklaces were exquisite (yes, I loved the necklaces) I could not wrap my head around that phony-tail which was just as blunt as Ryan.

And nearly as big a turnoff.

What were your picks for best and worst looks from this week’s episode of the Bachelorette? Leave it in the comments below. And if you are looking for any other items from Emily’s Bachelorette fashion this week, check out my fashion blog Possessionista.com.

  1. Did you mean ovaries or mammaries?

  2. I LOVED her ponytail the last night! Very sophisticated, and just for one night. Your right about Ryan though, definitely a turn off.

  3. Agree–really liked the ponytail. But that butterfly dress needs to go to Goodwill. And as for Emily’s casual wear, why oh why does she insist on constantly wearing Daisy Dukes? Sure, she has the legs for them, and they’re sexy in a way, but it gets old after a time. Just MHO.

  4. No comment or screen shot of Jef’s shorts with tall socks at the rose ceremony? I nearly died when I saw what he was wearing!!! Love reading your blog.

  5. I liked the butterfly dress, it looked very summerish. Emily’s hair and makeup always look nice, but she should change the style more often. The ponytail was a nice change. She always looks beautiful, but I agree that she’s wearing too many denim shorts, I was expecting more fashionable outfits. Were Jeff’s tall socks supposed to be an outfit?? A suit jacket with tall socks…way to preppy looking.

  6. Where can I get her layered pearl necklace?

  7. Once again, I think you chickened out here, Dana. You’re not part of the Bachelor crowd, so this is an opportunity for you — why don’t you SAY WHAT YOU ARE REALLY THINKING, and critique all her clothes??? I know you didn’t like butterfly dress – agree – but why just show photos of other clothes, mention the label, and not give an OPINION???? Stop trying to please the vain stylists on this show, or the egotistical producers. Or you’re just a sellout. Also, there is no excuse for you including such tiny pix still. Get full size photos like the other bloggers here.

  8. Allissa, you keep commenting that I’m a sellout and I’m kissing the producers asses. I’m not exactly sure what you’re looking for? The Hunger Games?

  9. I think Emily is a beautiful woman with a smoking body, but I am constantly disappointed by the clothes of this season. Am I the only one that thinks that they are dreadful and really don’t do her ANY justice? I thought Ben’s season was a disaster and Emily’s is just as bad. I have always enjoyed your tweets and blog, but lately it seems like your brown nosing to the producers and you’re predictable week to week that you’ll love most of the stuff. Seems like you really want to be a part of tgis Bachelor crowd. Tell us what you really think.

  12. i have just found these young designers that specialise in tie dye clothing, have just bought one of their items, (Minted Religion) and it looks really cool, wear it all the time now, its so indie.

Check out their website, the designers who run the company said that they had just launched the website and their clothes prices are 20% reduced. I couldn’t miss the bargain.

Hope you enjoy their clothes as much as I do.
