David Good’s Bachelor Blog: Episode 8

It’s time for the hometown dates!  We finally have something interesting to watch besides spider-devil-lady (Courtney).  I will say that as much as I despise her, without her on this season I would have nothing to write about.  I do like seeing the families and where some of the contestants come from.  It usually explains a lot.

For me meeting the girls’ families could take a #1 to last place or last place to #1.  Family plays a big role in relationships and how someone will act if you decided to start a family with them.

First up is Lindzi.  She is from Ocala, FL!  Right up the road from your boy.   Wait?  She has a full horse track at her house!   The white horse she is riding is beautiful.  I love horses and the way they smell.

They have a little picnic and talk about meeting her family.  She tells him the last guy she was with she almost married and that her parents were not to fond of him.  If the pressure was not high already for Ben it sure is now.  They share another closed mouth kiss like 4th graders and decide its time to go meet her parents.

Lindzi’s parents are pretty cool.  They challenge Lindzi and Ben to a chariot race (obviously).  I can’t remember the last time I met parents and did not tie up the old horses for a Roman style chariot race.  Lindzi and Ben lost and they had to pull her parents back to the house for dinner in their chariot.  They actually picked up the handles on the chariot and pulled them back to the house.  It was all in good fun though and something different.

I still don’t see it between them.  I just don’t.  Awkward.   More closed mouth kissing and ass out hugs end the night.

Kacie B is next and is from Clarksville, TN.  Her hometown kind of reminds me of mine.  He is greeted at the hometown football stadium with a marching band and Kacie twirling a baton.  This was cute and now it makes sense.  The field is named after her grandfather who was a lifelong member of the community.

Kacie informs Ben that her dad does not drink.   This could be an issue seeing how Ben is a WINE MAKER.  Kacie’s mother is hot and her sister is beautiful.  Good Bloodline.  Plus 2 points.

Ben and her father sit down for a talk and her father is being a little tough on Ben.  Not in a bad way but seems very skeptical of the whole thing.  This is understandable.  If it was my daughter I might just call him a longhaired hippy, slap him in the mouth and then stare at him for the rest of night without words.   Only if it were my daughter.

If it were my son I would say “go for it boy!  My little girl though, no way!  This is called a double standard and I know this.  Get over it.

I don’t think her parents helped her cause very much.  They did not seem like a family I could hangout with either unfortunately   Unless it was for medical reasons if a father could not sit down and drink a beer with me I would not like it.   It’s not a deal breaker but just not what I prefer and I don’t think Ben does either.

They say that in Japan when doing business if a man does not get drunk with you after being invited out after a business meeting then he cannot be trusted.   I kind of feel this way about a man who refuses to drink a beer with me.

Nicki is from Hurst, TX.   She takes Ben to a rodeo shop to pick out a few things.   I love that they went to pick out a pair of cowboy boots.  I have two pair of boots and she is right.  Picking out a pair of boots is like picking a good partner.  They have to fit just right and be comfortable.

Nicki is still talking a lot about her first marriage.  I know this was a big part of her life but I think I would like to stop hearing about it after a while.  She really seems like she falls hard fast.  I feel so bad for these girls sometimes.  Everyone is “falling in love with him” and “have never felt this way before” but only one can have him.

Her dad gets pretty upset because he may have messed up by giving his blessing for her to get married the first time.  I don’t think that all falls on him.  Poor guy is being hard on himself.  If I could give one piece of advice to my kids it would be to not get married until at least, AT LEAST 26 or 27 years old.  You don’t know anything at 21 years old.  Yes I know some make it but most don’t unfortunately.   This is the reason America’s divorce rate is so high.  Over 55%!  Look at the statistics for those who wait to get married over 25-30 years old.  The % of divorce drops almost 25%.

The % of woman going to college in 2000 and up has increased drastically and is one of the reasons for this number.  Women in college are less likely to get married until they are out of the 24-25 years of age.  Statistics show if you are age 25 or older with a college degree, your only 20% likely to get divorced after marriage.

Anyway.  The poor guy should not hold himself accountable for that.  In the end she is probably going to do what she wants anyway.

Her family seemed great!

Nicki pulls Ben into the bedroom and tells him that she is soooooo falling in love with him.  My initial reaction was OHHHH NOOOO but looking at it now I guess it’s the only time she has to tell him this so she needs to do that.  It’s still so weird watching someone say it but get nothing back.

They have saved the devil-spider-lady (Courtney) for last.  Apparently the devil came from Scottsdale, AZ.  Guess we can put the bibles up and stop worrying about that part of it.

She starts out saying she has had a few days to think about her time on the show and she feels bad about a few things she might have said and how she treated the other girls.  She follows that up with “because it has affected my relationship with Ben” which say’s she could actually careless about what she did or said to the girls.  It is only because it affected “her” situation.

Did anyone notice Ben has his cowboy boots on he got with Nicki?

Her family seems relatively normal for having a devil baby.  I was expecting a fire-breathing dragon mixed with a housewife from NJ.

Ben and Courtney sit down to write some pretend marriage vowels.  Actually pretty cute and then they read them to each other.  Ben writes like a 7-year-old chimpanzee on crack.  I could not read one word.  Literally.  Courtney tells Ben she loves him.  His response is “wow.”  LOL   I know he can’t say it back, but it just makes it awkward.

It’s Rose Ceremony time.

These rose ceremonies get really difficult from here on out.  After meeting the families the pressure is high and the feelings are deep.

WHOAAAAAAA!  Kacie B is going home!!!  I did not see that one coming at all!  Told you her dad should have drank a beer.  ;)    She goes out cussing up a storm yelling “What the F#$k happened, what the f$#k happened.”  I feel so bad for her.  She is such a great person but that’s how the chips fall sometimes.

Next week the 2 remaining girls and she-devil head to Switzerland!  Beautiful spot!

Have a great week!

  1. Not impressed at all with your blog…the Courtney hating is getting very old…is it because you can’t find anything else to say??!! I think so…

  2. I LOVE your blog, especially this week talking about if she was your daughter! You seem like a classy guy! :)

  3. Hilarious blog — had me laughing the whole way through. Loved the 7-yr-old chimpanzee on crack comment.

Oh, and apparently Courtney stole her vows from an episode of Sex and the City! Gotta love the heartfelt emotions in that one, huh? ;-D

  4. I always enjoy the male perspective on the Bachelor. I agree one hundred percent with you regarding Courtney. I don’t see any redeeming qualities in her which sadly, speaks volumes about Ben. Enjoy your humor too!!!!!

  6. Love the blog as usual! Like many others, I’m sure, I am starting to hope that Ben does end up with Courtney. Lindzi and Nicki (and Kacie) are such great girls and I would hate to think how heartbroken they must feel if one of them are the one he picks in the end after seeing the skinny dipping, marriage vows, etc.

His complete disregard for warnings from the other women, disrespect and lack of concern for their feelings regarding his actions with Courtney when they aren’t around (the skinny dipping for example…it’s no longer a fair playing field after that…he’s been intimate with her while there are 11 other women are still around…not cool), as well as how infatuated he seems to be with someone who has little to no redeeming qualities shows a lot about his true character.

As the season has gone on I’ve started to question his judgment, motives, and the kind of person he is because of the decisions he’s made and the disregard he has for everyone else on the show but himself (and perhaps Courtney). She does say some things that are quite humorous at times, but that doesn’t take away or excuse how malicious, mean spirited, self-centered, and egotistical she is, and her attempt at redeeming herself this week is far too little too late.

At this point she and Ben deserve each other. And if he ends up getting hurt I can’t say I’ll have much sympathy for him. The other ladies tried to warn him and he basically gave no weight to what they were saying, making himself look like an ass in the process.

  7. Courtney also stole some Bob Marley lyrics to “Is This Love” “I want to love you and treat you right every day and every night”. Just wanted to put ina word for Bob Marley because everyone seems to be picking up the Sex and the City reference but not that one. Gosh she’s original isn’t she? ;-)

  8. also: Why do people have to be so mean toward the bloggers? I you are entitled to your opinions but bear in mind that someone took the time to write about the episode for your reading pleasure. If you do not enjoy the blog at least be classy about it or just don’t comment on it. Jeez.

  10. Love Lindzi and her family. So down to earth.

Can you imagine how bad Ben feels today after finding out that Courtney stole her vows from a tv show and song. He was very heartfelt with his words and she couldn’t even come up with any of her own.

I have gone from being very annoyed at Ben, to being mad, but now I am actually starting to feel sorry for him. How embarrassing that we are all getting to witness Courtneys manipulation of Ben. I hope she has some true feelings for him, but I just don’t see it.

  20. Dave’s cool. Most of the guys on this show are, I said MOST.

However, I do believe Mike Fleiss has created a whole lot of gold digging attention seeking famewhores when it comes to the females, starting with Trista, onto Ali with the fake love for Jake and Roberto. Ali never loved Roberto or she would never split from him, trash him in the rag mags and go on to be kissing on some guy, photographed doing it, if she ever cared about Roberto’s feelings. He’s better off.

I love Kacie B. She’s too good for this franchise and not because of her being religious either. Tenley’s religious and everytime she speaks bibles fall out of her mouth. She’s annoying and I don’t see how Kiptyn would settle for her in the long wrong. Besides have you seen her video of her gluten free mac and cheese. GAG ME. I am sure Kip gag’s eating that horsepoo.

Then you have Krisily, well she went private cause you know what she’s jamming her face into. Glad she’s gone.

Blah blah, they all end up banging each other and the lead frump just is nasty as hell to everyone who doesn’t kiss her ass.

That’s why I love Wes. He don’t take BS from Bsheeters.

  23. Thanks for not falling for Courtney’s BS. It’s good to see some guys can spot a fake when they see one. I like how you noticed she only felt bad b/c of the effect it would have on Ben’s opinion of HER (it had nothing to do with actual remorse)

  24. Does Ben feel guilty because he went dipping with Courtney? I’m not sure what to think anymore… I can’t see them being together after the use of a movie’s line in their play-wedding.

    Comment by emy — February 22, 2012 @ 12:32 am

  25. Well, the Kacie deal. I agree! As a man i think the dad should have a beer and loosen up some. More less this would show me..that trouble with the in-laws is down the road. And they will likely think Ben is an Chocoholic cause he drinks wine every other day. I think id let her go also..she is a cute girl, but also lifestyle needs to come into play and her and Ben are two different lifestyles. She needs someone like a teetotaller for the parents LOL :)
Linzi- How is he still around? She would have gone home if I was the B-lor long ago around Utah time. I would have kept Blackely at least until the fantasy suite “guaranteed sex”..Courtney would have dropped after I laid her in the water..as she said in her own words “its game over” yes for Courtney that would have been game over time to move on to the next tail.
As a man if i was the B-lor I would just try to bed as many women as I could..like B-lor bob did he claimed 5.5 “the .5 is likely a blow job”. With the success rate of the show 4 people out of 500 “1%” Id be lookin for a good time not really a wife. So id be lookin to lay as many as I could..lets see
Courtney- Laid in old San Juan- rose ceremony she is GONE!
Jenna- Insecure and a basket case would have sex just to try to stay around..so she would have been gone in SF after i laid her the 1st week
Monica- Maybe a 3 some with her and Blackely around Utah time..That rose ceremony they are both gone.
Emily-Lindzi-Jenifer-Kacie B All gone on 1st rose ceremony-all pruinish and too hard to get into the sack so soon!
    Fantasy suit 100% sure sex

Nicki-”shes down for it” Racheal “she is hot”- Casey S “Best looking chick this season-
So i think Id have around 7 lays on the season..The final rose do a Brad Womack.

  26. My dad’s a recovering alcoholic, so there would be no “let’s crack open the beer” from him – but I don’t think a family or a man’s worth/potential as a great father-in-law should be judged on that.

  27. Gran Torino: “we’re in a bar, Padre, order a beer”…..Comes to mind, David Good, when thinking about what you said….haha!…..and speaking from experience, trust me on this…..YOU DO “MARRY the FAmily!”… (not just the person)…so i am afraid, you are more than correct on this issue with Kaci B’s family…..it seemed more than ChrYsTAL CLEAR that this family, Dad AND Mom….were NOT about to let their daughter casually move across the family !!……also, i think you meant to say, “marriage vows” but i almost pee’d my pants when i read “Marriage Vowels!’…” hahhahahaha!…..(i’m gonna use that for the rest of my life!)……SO F’in Funny…..esp with your example of a chimp on crack….”Vowel” are in order for sure!!!…….so if you meant it, funniest thing in 5 years….if ya didn’t , WHAT A GREAT FReuDIAN SlIP!….STILL FUNNY! ……anyway, if Lindzi gets sent home some day soon, (which i feel will prob happen) you should think about asking her out in an AMAZING way!……..she reminds me SO much of the gorgeous “Nat Getz” in her style!…..and seems like a GREAT girl, the “Marrying kind!”……(just saying!)…looking out for my boy!….until next time! xoxo Pam…..

  30. Awesome comments guys! Sorry you don’t like it Betty but yes I kind of don’t have a lot of other things to talk about. Maybe you should go back and read my FIRST PARAGRAPH that say’s “I will say that as much as I despise her, without her on this season I would have nothing to write about.” So thanks for the comments captain obvious.
Also I am so sorry Rachel to hear about your father being a recovering alcoholic but it sounds like he is on the right track. That is nothing to joke around about and not funny but I was more or less being cute in my comments about “not trusting a man who will not drink a beer.” My grandfather never drank ever and was one of the greatest men I knew but I would still prefer to be able to grill out and have an ice cold one with my father-in-law that is all I am saying.
I did not know Courtney did not write her own vowels! That is insane to me! WOW. It keeps getting better. I wonder if she did that knowing he probably would not know where they were from and trying to embarrass him on TV!
Also the NJ Housewives is just a comment about that crazy show on TV. I don’t watch it but isn’t there a show about some crazy housewives or something? Thats all it meant. You guys rock!

  32. Enjoyed your blog this week, David Good. You’re a straight shooter and had a lot of funny lines. I have to admit I also totally lust after you. By the way, personality typing-wise you’re very obviously an “8″, “The Leader” – they’re notoriously upfront, can’t stand fakes and in their best mode they’re leaders and inspiring teachers. Google the Enneagram; you might find it interesting. Riso-Hudson have the best books but there are a lot of authors who write about the Enneagram. I know this stuff is out of the blue but I’m a sucker for 8′s and knew your type immediately on Jillian’s season when you freaked out on Juan, lol…

  33. C’mon, dont let me down. I have been advocating this for some time now in the blogs. Lindzi deserves much better than Ben. Lindzi and Dave G need to see what chemistry there is between the two of them. Even tho she drives a Ford. Both Floridians, both outdoorsy. And now discover Dave likes horses as well.

I would choose Lindzi over Natalie as a life long partner. They’re two different personalities. I could be wrong, Dave would know better than we would. Lindzi seems to be much more into finding a lifelong mate. Natalie gives me the impression she is looking to find a date.

It must be hell for Ben to realize that the greater % of the Bachelor viewing community looks at him as such a fool and doofus. I cant recall another Bachelor who has earned such a reputation. Jake didnt earn his till near the end. Ben has earned his all season.

But then again, I have never thought he was in it to find a wife. I also dont feel he will be welcomed into the Bachelor/ette Family, much as Jake and Brad. And I would find it very interesting to see the perception of the Sonoma community now versus when they filmed the community theater production.

    Life goes on…..

  35. Love your blog! I’m surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that the producers let Courtney ” break the rules” again with meeting her parents FIRST, and then having their alone time SECOND. I can’t recall on any season of the Bachelor/ette them doing it this way. We never got to see Courtney and Ben say bye to each other either. Could it possibly be that they didn’t say goodbye and had a secret “honeymoon” after their fake wedding??? It’s very apparent to me that Ben is choosing Courney in the end, and that he’s just going through the motions until the end. Thoughts?

    Comment by Michelle — February 22, 2012 @ 1:01 pm

  36. I agree with you about Courtney and she only said that stuff about feeling bad because of how it affected her. I also thought it was a voice over after the fact they added now to try to make her image appear better. They never show her actually saying it and when they do cut back to her talking it seems like a rough cut. As for Kacie. She didn’t say her parents don’t drink, she just said her dad doesn’t drink. So if her mom drinks, her dad must not object. Maybe he had issues drinking in the past. Not an alcholic per se but didn’t like how it affected his life. Or maybe he had a friend he watched ruin his life from drinking. Although, my guess is it probably has to do with his job.

  37. I ADORE your blog! You are spot on, my friend. And manage to say exactly what I can only express in the words of Kaci B: “what the F?!?!” ….speaking of Kaci B., her parents ruined that. I’d really like to just fast forward to a year from now when Ben is really kicking himself. Poor guy. Blinded by long legs and a baby voice.

  38. Dave – no worries about the alcohol comments – each family has their own story, each person makes their own choices! :)

I HEARTILY agree with you about being able to chill out at the BBQ with the family, though, alcohol or no alcohol. It’s more about being able to relate to the family.
I think maybe Ben felt he couldn’t relate as well with Kacie’s family as he could with the others. Nothing wrong with that.

PS – good job on the Good Morning panel. :)

  39. Wassup with people needing to have alcohol to bond? I drink socially but do not feel it is a necessary component of a meal, party, etc. Frankly, I know far too many people who absolutely can not go without a beer or scotch in their hand, which is a real turn off. Perhaps it is the age group of the show contestants?

Anyway, other than that, I agree pretty much with the blog. I like Ben a lot and think he became blinded by the MODEL portion of Courtney….but he should take a hard look at her mother to see what she is gonna look like in a few years. ;)

I have never spoken to Lindzi but hopefully will run into her at some point. She seems like a great girl and is BEAUTIFUL. Her parents are right up the road as well! Might just go hang with them. I totally would have won the chariot race. Would ABC pay for the wedding!?!? loll
As for the Beer drinking again it’s not a must, its just a preference so relax on some of the comments. It’s the same as I don’t have to wear shoes out in public today….buuuuuut I would rather. ;)

I really thought her parents seem like very nice people and that Courtney showed a very different side of her.

  49. Great Blog! I totally agree with you about Lindzi. He always ‘closed mouth’ kisses her. I don’t see the connection. I never saw the connection with him and Ashley either, because he ALWAYS ‘closed mouth’ kissed her. Courtney is honestly the only one he really kisses. He seems more excited and lively around her than anyone else. I have a feeling he really does choose her. I think he is going to get his heart broken. I thought her vows were really touching until I learned she got them from a TV show; how sad that she couldn’t express her own thoughts.
