David Good’s Bachelorette Blog: Episode 7

Would like to start out by saying that while I sit here I am pretty sure the ocean is creeping up in my backyard!  This tropical storm DEBBY is a real pain in the butt! It’s insane down here right now.  I would much rather be in Prague with the guys and Emily!

I am really wondering how this show is going to go.  It’s the one before the hometowns and with really no villains left.  Emily is going to have to carry this one.

The first one-on-one date is with Arie.   I actually have the exact same jacket he is wearing with the “old man” elbow pads.  I got it for The Today Show a few months ago as something different.  I like it.  The date is pretty boring but they seem to have the most chemistry I have seen yet.

I want to say something about this whole Cassie “the producer” thing.  Cassie is an awesome chick let me say that.  @Emilymaynard is REALLLLLY Overreacting to this.  He dated someone 10 years ago?!  Who gives a sh#t.  Why would he just throw that out there?

What does she WANT ARIE TO SAY????  “Hey Em…I just thought that I would tell you that 10 YEARS AGO I went on a few dates with a girl that I think you are KIND OF friends with… I also sh#t my pants in 2nd grade and stole money from my grandma when I was 5 for candy. Anything else you want to know?” I’m sure it is not even crossing his mind.

Arie ends up saying sorry to Emily and everything worked out fine.

The next date is with John “the wolf.”  I really see him going home really soon.  I see about as much chemistry here as I completed in Jr. High.  I think he is a really nice guy but has nothing going with Emily.  They are so far behind in their relationship compared to the other guys.

Back in the house Chris is kind of losing it.  He says he does not know if he can do this anymore. Chris is kind of letting things get to him, BUT in his defense I believe he really has feelings for her and it is hard for a guy OR girl to sit back and watch others and hear stories of them with the girl or guy they are into.  I feel for him.  That sucks.  Perks of this show though, you know?

Sean is also freaking out a little and says he has to see her and runs out of the house to try and find her.  He is yelling her name running in the streets and MAGICALLY finds her walking alone in a dark alley.  Hahaha.  Geeee, how did that happen?

Sean is at the top of my list, with Arie right behind him at this point.

Later on Emily pulls Doug aside to talk with him.  It is raining outside and he is holding an umbrella and she starts in with a really unexpected “your about to go home talk” and midway thru he leans in for one of the most awkward kisses on the show I have seen and she just keeps on talking.  OUCH.  She tells him it is best if she just walks him out now.  I did not see that coming!  Doug ended up being such a nice guy but just could not get his feelings for her across.  Some people just have a harder time expressing.  I see nothing wrong with that at all but not good for this show.

Chris is losing it on the date with Emily and Sean.  He is really letting his emotions take over.  On the date Emily gives Sean the rose for the hometown date and Chris is visibly upset and letting Emily know it.  Not a good move.  She is already in a very awkward situation AND it’s not like you are going home.  LOL… It just means she likes him way more.  No big deal.  Hahaha.

I am not sure how to take him right now.  I feel like he has changed a lot over the last few episodes.  He was one of my favorites for this whole show but is completely losing his mind at this point.  Let’s see if he can regain his composure.

Jef gets a one-on-one date and it’s to a library where they take these puppets they got and things start to get real weird.  They play out a puppet show and Jef makes his puppet tell Emily’s puppet that he loves her.  Guys.  Please don’t ever ruin a great moment like that by doing it with a puppet.  You mise well text her “I love you” for the first time.  Grow a pair look her in the eye and say “I love you.”  Might mean a little more.

None the less, I want puppet now.

At the Rose Ceremony Emily says she knows who she wants to send home and there needs to be no rose ceremony.  Chris is freaking out because he had a lot of things he wanted to say sorry about for the group date and explain or spill his guts to her.

Halfway through he stops the rose ceremony and asked Emily to talk to him.  This was a very brave and manly thing to do in my mind.   I really gained some respect for him for that.  He would regret not telling her for the rest of his life if he did not and he realized that.  Keep in mind the guy is only 25 years old!  Good for him!

I think what he said to Emily was very heartfelt and she believed him.  I really think she was going to send him home but because of that talk she ends up sending “the wolf” home.  I think it was a good choice sitting here in my chair.  J

From here on out things are going to be really serious and we get to see the hometown dates!

Everyone have a great week!  Pray for those getting smashed by this Tropical Storm.  Some nasty stuff going on.

  1. Great blog, thanks! I so want to get some puppets and make little plays and record them on my iphone for sh*ts and giggles, LOL!!!! That was so funny. A little off, but funny still.

Well, it will be interesting to see how the hometown dates go. Chris is kinda scaring me a little – he gets crazy eyes sometimes. I like Arie and what they seem to have together. I like Jef way more after this episode though, he really stepped it up and seems sincere with his questions and answers about the future. Great total package!

    Have a great week!

  2. Good blog. I agree that Chris went a bit nuts, but he made up for it. I feel bad for him. He is the type that needs to meet a girl the normal way, not on a reality show. I think it’s bringing out his most insecure, needy side and it’s not pretty.

Sean is my favorite too. I loved their hot kiss and Emily seems to really like him too. Arie to me is just too much. It seems all physical and no real emotional connection. I flip flop on Jef. I liked him a lot before, but the puppet thing was a little weird for me!

  3. Dave I love reading your blog. Thanks for taking the time to write it. I love to read a man’s point of view as to what is going on the show. Do you think that what Emily and Arie have would be long-lasting? I see it basically as just passion but what happens if that fades away down the line? As a guy do you think they are more of a physical thing?

    Comment by Penolope — June 27, 2012 @ 4:22 pm

  4. Dave, I love your comments, but you must not have been watching very closely (or it’s a “guy thing”) if you thought the “you’re about to go home” talk with Doug was unexpected, and you didn’t see it coming that she would walk him out right then. As soon as we saw the scene where he apologized for accidentally brushing her knee, and he kept sitting there with his arms folded across his chest miles away from her physical-connectionwise, I knew it was over. Also, with the lack of chemistry, there’s no way she was planning on keeping John at this point in the process…Chris’s talk was good for him, but didn’t make a difference in terms of the outcome of the rose ceremony.

  5. Yeah Emily way over reacted to Aries date with Cassie that was 10 years ago….Why even care? Emily has had like 7 dates with men in the past 5 or so years..i dont see Arie prying her to tell details. She near dumped him over a chick he had 2 dates with a decade ago..WTF?
Yeah this week seems Sean is now nearing Arie as the front runner.

  6. I am getting really scared. I am actually starting to agree with you over the last few weeks! Never would have thought that!

I think you are softening a little now that you are in a relationship.

Regardless, Sean would be her best option. Jef and the puppets got a little weird for me, and Arie is only about sex, with noisy kisses!

I think the dates this season are terrible. We don’t want tours of cities, we want to see some fun. Hopefully it will get better in the last few episodes.

  7. Awww Dave, you need to watch the puppet show over in order to fully appreciate it! Ten, maybe twenty times. All the ladies on the Bachelorette board is in love with One F…

  8. Agree with you Dave regarding Arie and Cassie. What was the point other than inject some drama and sadly some people fell for it. Also Sean running around Prague yelling her name. I’m surprised there were no cops around! LOL

  9. Thanks for the blog. Always nice to hear different takes on what was shown on a ‘reality’ show. As far as Arie/Cassie/Emily…don’t think dating was the problem. Emily was informed one of the guys dated a producer prior to taping and said she was ok with it. Think when you consider previous guys such as Wes, or Bentley who pulled the wool over the girls eyes. There is doubt. Her concern IMHO was the ease that he had in hiding it from her, not acknowledging that he knew Cassie. That scared her because doubt planted the seeds what other things can he hide with ease. End of the day turns out no harm no foul. I liked Jef’s, puppet show and think Emily liked it as well.

  10. You guys are so moronic if you think Jef said “I love you” with puppets. Look at that scene again and see that they shot in a way that you can’t see if his mouth is even moving and look at her reaction. Do you think that Emily would have no reaction to one of her favorites telling her ILY? She lights up when he tells her he likes her even. They did this in that teaser where it looked like Emily was saying, “who else is not all about me?” then it later turned out to be her asking for another rose for the Doug and Wolf. They have been doing this all season. If they are not showing the person’s mouth actually saying those words, I can promise you that person said it a different time then the time they are implying during the show. Even many of the PIs are from different times than the actual date that they were talking about.

  11. Plus let’s not forget that in the show, Jef said, “I want to date you so hard and marry the !@#$ out of you.” He said it, but not at that time because they show that exact scene in the Prague travel video again and his voice said, “Can we hold hands for 95 years?”

Comment by Are U still falling for stupid editing tricks? — June 28, 2012 @ 7:56 am

  12. Sorry, it was, “Can we hold hands until we are 95?”

  13. Also, for everyone and myself who keep calling them puppets, they are a specific puppet call marionettes – if they have strings, they are marionettes (think “Lonely Goater” scene out of “The Sound of Music.”), if you stick your hands and arms into them to guide them, they are puppets (think most characters on Sesame Street).

  15. Dave – Love your blog and a man’s insight. I have to disagree with your Jef comments. Jef is ADORABLE and most guys couldn’t get away with playing with “dolls” etc. but he pulled it off. The best comment of the night – I want to date you hard and marry the shit out of you!

Team Jef for Emily and I’ll take Sean for myself. : )

    Comment by Jennifer — June 28, 2012 @ 9:43 am

  16. I thought Jef and Emily were so sweet together this episode, but I dont think she is as attracted to him as she is to Arie and Sean. Arie is the obvious winner, so I think they just added the drama with Cassie to try to make it more exciting. The whole editing is so over the top. They try to make the show way more exciting than it is. I dont really anticipate anything in Men Tell all, as I did the last times I waaatched Bachelor or Bachelorette.

    Comment by SJ — June 28, 2012 @ 9:49 am

  17. FYI – you can tell by looking at Emily’s face that Jef did not actually say “I love you”. That was a voice over. And then 10 seconds later he’s whispering “I really like you”. Don’t be fooled by MF tricky editing.

  18. David – You may know a lot about “Man Code” but you know nothing about “Woman Code”! :-) When I first started dating my fiance, we went to California to see his mom. We also met up with a married couple that he was friends with…….well, not just friends cuz at one point he dated the girl……then they broke up…….she met her current husband and my fiance was even in their wedding. But guess what, before we went to see this couple, he explained the whole thing to me…..this is what a “person” does…..doesn’t matter if you are a man or a woman…..it just matters that you lay it all out there. Time to revise the “Man Code”! :-)

  19. It’s not about the fact that they went out….that doesn’t matter…..it’s about Emily knowing they went out. She was fine once it was all out in the open.

  20. 25 is not an immature age. I don’t see why everyone is acting like 25 is high school.

  21. @ Jolene. Speaking of the bachelorette boards have you seen Onetwotreetree’s posts? Jealous drunk troll makin’ a fool of herself!

  22. LOL..Some good points on here. Am I getting soft in my blogs!!! I have to remedy this asap! Sh$t I better get it together. It’s just hard to get on Emily or some of these guys. This season has a different vibe to it. Not sure if it’s good or bad. @betsy you are funny! Your points are terrible and make no sense at all but it is funny to laugh at.

Let me tell you something. If Arie did not know Emily was friends with this girl and he barely dated her 10 YEARS AGO why on earth would it even cross his mind to bring it up? Hell he probably forgot. I am assuming you have not been in a lot of relationships. Probably 2 or 3 tops but some guys and girls date/whore around and lose track of girls from 10 YEARS AGO especially if they only went on a few dates. HINT: The guy is a good looking SINGLE RACE CAR DRIVER WHO TRAVELS FROM CITY TO CITY FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS…. lets just say he has “had his fair share” . YOU going on a DOUBLE date with your husbands ex lover is completely different. Of course he should tell you. He was banging the girl and now your having dinner with her. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!

  23. I just wanted to say that I enjoyed your post and point of view. The season that you were on didn’t portray you that well but with bachelor pad my opinion changed. You seem like a pretty good guy and a good head on your shoulders! Keep writing.

    Comment by Lianne Cavalieri — June 29, 2012 @ 8:05 pm

  24. The point that everyone is missing and the reason they didn’t show the conversation between the three is because the producers told Arie NOT to mention it to Emily. That it was taken care of. So if he thought she knew and never brought it up he would think it was a big deal. I think it made Emily look worse than it did Arie. She really freaks out over things easily. First he didn’t defend her enough and then this. He may be thinking this girl is high maintenance. But he told her he loved her so I guess he is all good with her drilling him all the time.

    Comment by Becca — June 30, 2012 @ 6:18 am

  25. you’re getting soft because you have a crush on Emily!

    Comment by admit it — June 30, 2012 @ 9:20 am

  26. And how do you suppose Arie was cast to begin with!? Ahhhh…Cassie! This is the reason he was on the show to begin with. He was told if he applied, Cassie would be sure to see that he got to the finals. Whispering in Emily’s ear, telling her what a great guy Arie is all along and whhaaa laaa…in the finals. Emily got played by Arie, Cassie and the whole show in general. She is doubting what else Arie is capable of omitting. Thus he isn’t one of the final two. Do you think that Arie, with all the babes who hover around the race car drivers, is really lonely and looking for love? He is on the show because of Cassie’s intervention.

  27. Like your blog and agree with you about Sean. It seems the guys that have been interviewed that have left the show have all been for Sean also. What is it that the guys are seeing here that so many of the women are not?

    Comment by sla09 — July 1, 2012 @ 12:57 pm

  28. Hi – Has anyone thought about the reason for Arie finally deciding to be on this season (because apparently he has been asked before) is the connection to Rick Hendrick and what he might be able to do for his racing career? I know his dad was well known and had a successful career but he’s no Rick Hendrick. I like Arie and I like them together but that just nags at me.
