David Good’s Bachelorette Blog: Episode 5

David Goods Blog Episode #5

Off we go to London.  London is a financial powerhouse along with Tokyo and NY; I think it is ranked top 3 in the world.  London has some deep roots and awesome culture.  This will be fun to watch because of this, let alone the drama it looks like we are about to watch go down!

We waste no time and Sean is up for the first date and it is a one-on-one.  We have not got to see a ton of Sean yet but he seems like a good fit for Emily from what I have seen.  He has moved up my list.  We will see how the date goes….

Of course they are touring the city in a “double-decker bus!”   These are a staple of London.  The architecture in London is incredible.  I wish we still built things like that these days.  WE DON’T.

Sean and Emily are really hitting it off on the first part of the date and he seems very comfortable around her and vise-versa.  I really like them together.

Back in the house Kalon is talking with Jef and Arie and say’s something about Emily and Ricki that really upsets both the guys.  We will talk more about this in a bit because I don’t want to keep starting and stopping the issue, so to be continued…

The group date card comes in and Kalon is super upset that he is going on another group date.  He pouts like a little kid who wants a cookie when he is upset.

The group date is the guys performing Shakespeare and acting out skits for Emily.  This is hilarious.  The guys all seem to be having fun with it but in typical fashion Kalon is taking this way too serious.

He is so rude to Emily and actually tells her to leave when they are practicing their lines!  What is wrong with this guy?!  I have never seen someone so disrespectful to the actual person they are trying to make fall in love with them.  You would think he is trying to upset her on purpose with his actions.

TIMEOUT.  Everyone keeps saying that Ryan reminds him or her of myself in looks and such.  I appreciate that because he is clearly better looking than myself but he is wearing a silk, flowery scarf in warm weather!  I WOULD ONLY WEAR A SCARF IF I WAS FREEZING AT THE NORTH POLE AND MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT.  What the hell is going on with men in our culture?  Be a damn man!  I feel like I am watching Queer Eye for the Straight Guy at some points during this show.

Emily’s voice is completely lost and it is hilarious to listen to her talk with everyone.  She might have kissed a few too many guys in the last couple days.

WOW!  Kalon is venting to the guys and say’s the “Emily has a lot of baggage.”  The guys do not take well to this.  Doug pulls Kalon aside and asked him if he actually said that.  Kalon confirms it.  Doug takes the initiative to go and tell Emily and Emily confronts Kalon and loses it on him and this is well deserved in my eyes.  She asked Kalon if what the guys said is true and he admitted to it.  Emily looks at Kalon and say’s “then get the f#ck out!”  BOOM.  That is how you handle that!  Done, later, bye!

Emily is then upset with the guys, which I don’t understand. I think Emily is wrong to tell the guys that she is upset someone did not tell her. Nothing crazy had come up until Kalon said that. Guys have to wait until it is confirmed before they go rat on someone. They were not wrong. Doug did say something so no reason to freak out like she is.

Emily is so upset she does not even give a rose out on the group date.  I know she is upset but I really think she is in the wrong.  What are your thoughts on this?  Being on the show before she should know what a bad position that can turn into ratting on someone without the proper backup.  I just personally think it has to be very severe to rat and when it reached that point Doug did step in so no reason to get so upset.

Jef gets the next one-on-one date and is really excited about it.  I still am not sure what I think about Jef with Emily.  He is awesome but just seems a bit young hearted and YOUNG to me.  I can’t put my finger on why because he has really done nothing real immature but he just does.  He seems more like a kid brother to her.

At the Rose Ceremony Ryan has on ANOTHER SCARF?!  Ryan for the love of us country boys and country please stop wearing those damn scarves in public.  If you want to dress up like a girl at home and stuff fine, play dress-up and put lipstick on at home but not on here.  lol

They just showed cuts from the next show and I hope that her freaking out about Kalon and saying “not sure guys are here for her” does not turn these guys into a bunch of girls playing tattletale for the rest of the show.  Emily: it is not their jobs to tell you whom to date; it is up to you to make good decisions on the guys character throughout the show.

WHAT???  I totally forgot about Alejandro even being on the show.  This sounds bad but I don’t think he is going to be missed much.  Did not seem to bring a lot to the table for Emily or the show.  Probably means he is a really good dude.  J

See ya’ll next week!  Have a good one!

  1. You look nothing like Ryan. You are way hotter!

  2. I completely agree with you about Emily’s overreaction on the group date! People have become wary of ratting someone else out for being mean or saying something bad after the way it’s worked out in the past. Also, it isn’t like they were hiding it from her for weeks! By the sounds of it, the conversation had taken place the night before the group date. I guess emotion got the best of her, but I was definitely disappointed with the way she handled it.

  3. Doug and Chris should have been acknowledged for bringing up the baggage issue. Instead they got nothing! Bizzarity! Emily herself had experienced Kalon’s rudeness twice before and did nothing about it. Go Figure. It was funny seeing Sean and 1F Jef scrambling to cover their butts. Good call.

  4. Enjoyed reading this! I totally agree with you about the Emily and Kalon situation. Kalon is definitely a disrespectful jerk and Emily was right to send him home. I get why she is super protective of her child but she is very quick to get a little too defensive. She needs to be realistic and realize that no matter how excited the guys may be about Ricki, it is still a huge responsibility and they are giving up a lot.

I also didn’t understand why she got upset with the other guys. She just started intensely grilling them, but it’s not like they were trying to hide it from her. As soon as they confirmed what was said, Doug went right to Emily and told her. I can totally understand why the guys wouldn’t want to get involved with the drama. They are there to focus on Emily and any time working Emily up over Kalon’s comments is less time they get to focus on her. Also, the other Emily from Ben’s season decided to get involved in the drama and we saw how it worked out for her … not well. Ben was none too pleased she opened her mouth, so I don’t blame these guys at all. You are exactly right David.

  5. 1) You are definitely WAY better looking than Ryan.

    2) I completely support the way Emily handled the Kalon situation. She says herself that she’s “fiercely loyal” and considering the track record this show has, I’m sure she’s wary of anybody who talks ill of her child. I don’t think it’s asking too much to want the guys to look at this situation as an opportunity to be a father and not something they have to give things up for.

    3) I was a little confused at first about how she reacted to the guys after the Kalon situation as well. However, after listening to what she was saying to them, it sounds like she was more upset that no one stood up WITH her when she was bitching out Kalon in front of everyone. If that’s the case I understand it from both sides, the guy’s probably didn’t want to step on her toes if she was handling the situation. At the same time we don’t know how much of the conversation was edited out, and to have to stand there and yell at someone in front of a group without anyone chiming in back up – it might have felt like she was alone in it. I think she was expecting to see the guys more visibly angry about the situation (in hopes that if they were Ricky’s (step)dad they would react more strongly than they did).

  6. David,

I watched the show last night and I thought Jef looks like Emily’s younger brother too. I am sure he is a good guy but I like Sean and Emily together. They have a lot in common. Team SEAN!!

  7. Loved your take on things. I personally don’t like the dude with the scarfs on…lol I’m from Tx…real men do not do that. I thought Doug should have gotten some credit because he DID tell her. He was looking out for her. Im a huge fan of his. Sean is a close second. We will wait and see how the petals fall.

  8. ru kidding me, you are way better looking than ryan, he is all jaws. still most of the guys are pretty good looking, i wouldn’t mind being on but i don’t know if i’d pass the std test.

  9. Dave can I ask you, did you think Doug broke the mans code by instantly running to Emily, and ratting out Kalon? Also seems Doug twisted kalons words, I never heard kalon say the word baggage, he said ‘responsible. So let me ask you if you were in Dougs shoes would youd had ran instantly to Emily and told her of Kalons words? After I seen Doug do that stunt i was thinking of you and wondering how you would have responded.

  10. DAVE I WANT YOU…i may not have emily’s looks but I compensate well in other areas!!! who i am is a mystery…am i medicated teenager or a crazy old housewife you won’t know HAHAHA till you make a contact with me!!!

  11. I can’t believe I am going to say this, but I agree with everything you said in this blog!!

I wish Emily would relax and let love happen, instead of trying to force the men to commit to fatherhood, before they even have a chance to get to know her and fall in love.

I think Emily and Sean make the best couple.

I also don’t think Ryan is that bad. I think he is joking and having fun, that may not come across on camera as well as in person.

  12. Your Ryan and scarf comments had me laughing out loud.
    Hysterical and so true!
I also think she was too hard on the guys after the whole Kaylon deal. Maybe in hind sight she sees that but she was very much in the moment at the time.

  13. LOL…I read some funny stuff on here. Fav “I can’t believe I am going to say this but I agree with you” hahahahaha. Thanks lol Good points about Emily (letting love happen as well) I agree. Give Ryan a chance. I have a girlfriend of mine who I saw this past weekend and she used to date Ryan. She is a very good person and good judge of character and said that he just jokes around a lot and you can’t take him serious all the time. She said he is very respectful and even though they are not together things he is a very stand up guy. That say’s a lot.

  14. I too was mystified at how Emily got upset at the guys for not telling her about Kalon sooner. The group date party was pretty much the earliest chance they had to talk to her about this and it sounded like a lot of the guys (Doug, Arie, etc.) found out about it themselves not too long before they told Emily.

I also think Emily may need to be a little more realistic about how the guys should see Ricki. Of course Emily loves her daughter, because it’s HER daughter. But the guys have never even met Ricki. They could grow to love Ricki, but right now she should not expect them to already see Ricki as the biggest blessing of their lives and whatnot.

  15. Great blog Dave! I have mixed feelings about how Emily reacted to the whole Kalon situation. I’m so impressed with her for how she told him to get the heck out, he definitely deserved that and I think it showed everyone just how much she cares for her daughter. I think I was confused on why she was so upset with the other guys though. I mean, on one hand if it was because none of them said anything to back her up in the moment, I kind of get that. There were 7 other guys in the room and they just kind of watched it happen and didn’t really back her up. But it seemed like it was more so about none of them telling her sooner… Which confused me because I feel like he had just said it, Doug confirmed it, and then Doug told Emily.. Did I miss a few weeks or something??

Anyways, great blog Dave! I always look forward to yours and Natalie’s!

  21. I totally agree that Emily overreacted with the guys about the Kalon incident. Doug totally deserved to get that rose. However, the way she dealt with Kalon rocked. I agree with most of what you say, except when it comes to Jef. He has a personal style that comes off as younger than he is, but I think personality wise, he is much more mature than many of the other guys. I appreciate your view of Ryan. I think he’s getting the villain edit, and I bet he’s actually a good guy.

    Comment by Phoebe — June 14, 2012 @ 12:39 pm

  22. I can understand why Emily reacted the way she did regarding Kalon….It baffles me though that when the women try to warn the Bachelor about someone’s bad behavior, they are sent packing. When the guys don’t step up, there is no rose given out. I think that Doug should have gotten the group rose, as others have said.

I like Ryan. I think he is misunderstood and badly edited. Definite resembalence between you and Ryan- you are both good looking dudes.

I LOVE Jef for Emily….I see them as a great (but unexpected) match. I love that he is looking to see if they are a good match as much as she is, and doesn’t appear to be in it for the “competition” as much as the other guys. Arie is the obvious choice but I don’t like him for Emily…..Sean is great, but not for Emily either.

    Thanks for the recap.

  23. Something about Sean makes me uncomfortable. I think he tries too hard to be perfect for Emily, and his smile reminds me of the cheshire cat. I think he is hiding something.

Ryan for sure is over the top conceited and looking for the trophy wife. The scarf has got to go! I can’t believe she bought into him, especially when she told Chris she knew he was manipulative.

Doug makes me nervous. I think he is nice, but he has issues and a hidden temper, we saw come out partially with the other guys a few weeks back. Looked as though it could become dangerous.

Jef, Arie and Chris all seem to be nice guys for her. I think Jef is a hidden gem. He seems to be the total package. He seemed naturally comfortable with the kids and he doesn’t seem to have to force any relationships. He seems even tempered and like a good fit for Emily.

And by the way, you are way better looking then Ryan!

  25. Firstly, you are wayyy better looking than Ryan!

Secondly, I disagree completely about Sean- he is perfect for her on paper, yet in her heart she really loves Arie! I think she has a crush on Jef because he plays it cool, and lets face it- is cool, but in reality, Arie is the guy for her.

    Comment by Grace — June 16, 2012 @ 5:39 pm

  26. I agree with everything you have said (apart from the not being as good looking as Ryan bit), Emily DID overreact, in some ways i think she overreacted to Kalon as well. He didn’t mean ‘baggage’ negatively, he was just using that as a way to describe responsibility. She didn’t like him anyway (fair enough!) and so i suppose, used it as a way to outlet her bottled up anger towards him, and eliminate him..

And Sean is really not great for her, I mean he is fabulous, but much too safe of an option. I don’t think they have chemistry, if she were to pick him she would be using her head completely, as opposed to her heart.
