Michael Stagliano’s Bachelor Pad Blog: Episode 4

Well, we are half way through the madness that is BP3, and as you can probably tell from watching this episode that the “game” part of the show is really taking hold.  The first few weeks are kind of a “party phase.”  Everyone stays up late, drinks, mingles, it feels like there are A LOT of people around and a long way to go till the end.  Once week 4 hits, people start feeling like they really have a chance to win.

The evidence of all that came this week in the form of WILD CHILD Ed, calming it down, filling out his survey, and WINNING the Challenge.  SAY WHAT!?!?!  Yes, we were all just as shocked as you.

So…the Challenge.

Game show mash-up.  Essentially, it was a survey-type game with 2 parts. Round one was general knowledge Reality TV questions, round 2 was “who said that.”  I don’t want to rip on the show, or those that make it, because they have been very good to me, and it is a huge blessing to be on the show, go on the dates, be in the house…etc.

But holy hell…that was boring. HAHAHAHA!

It’s not even worth recapping… let’s just skip to the end:  Ed and Jaclyn win… and something happens that we haven’t seen yet: Jaclyn and Ed are a couple, so they take each other on the date, but they both WON roses…which means they EACH get to give out another rose… and they forfeit the other date.  Super interesting!

Jaclyn and Ed’s date was AWESOME.  They are both two of my favorite people that were there, INCREDIBLY fun to be around, hilarious, and their date was a pretty good representation of that.  They both seemed to immediately open up, embrace the night and went for it!!!  Between the national anthem, the kiss-cam, the Dodger Dog Picnic in the outfield, and the fireworks it was easily the best date so far this season.  I was very surprised to see Sarah get all huffy and puffy over Ed and Jaclyn making claims that Ed was her man… then…

Fast-forward 7 minutes…Sarah is ALL OVER CHRIS…curious?

So…Ed and Jaclyn decide to give the rose/date to Chris.  Chris spends the night with Jamie, wakes up, and figures it would be a good idea to take Sarah instead.  Which leads me to believe that Chris has the reasoning skills of a 3rd grader trying to do quantum physics. It’s just not happening.  I am also reminded of a mouse in a maze…without cheese.  Doesn’t it seem like he is just running around… lost, meandering into bed with girls, then wondering why he feels “trapped?”

Back to the EPI…

Chris takes Sarah…Jamie has “the sadz” as my good friend Ashley Spivey would say (GO READ HER BLOG) (After this one, not at this moment)… she somehow convinces herself, (because let’s face it- Chris didn’t do a very good job) that Chris is doing this for strategy reasons. To “protect” Jamie… Oh god… this was painful to watch… and there is more pain to come…

  1. Thanks for another great recap, Michael. Your parents sure raised you well. You’re honest, smart, compassionate, nice and and seem like a really nice person. Aim higher with women…..you deserve quality!!!!

  2. Hi Michael,
Wow, you have to be one of the nicest people ever! I watched you last season on Bachelor Pad and felt so sad about Holly (sorry I mentioned her) but feel that you deserve a lot better…maybe Rachel??? Anyway I love reading your blogs! Keep them coming!! I hope you find your true love and that she can appreciate the nice and funny guy that we’ve seen on TV.
On another note geez poor Jamie but seriously WTF. She kept going on and on and on about how great Chris was, how much they belonged together, how much he cared for her and that he was “protecting her and that is why he took Sarah out”….come on!!! Why didn’t the producers stop her from making a fool of herself. This is national TV, people will be watching her look like a complete …! I felt so bad for her, I hope she has better luck in real life than she did on television.

  3. Women, let this be a lesson to you, don’t sleep with a man unless you have a commitment and has demonstrated his love and respect for you. While we can all feel sorry for Jamie, her reaction is typical of those women who have had sex too early. The woman bonds with the guy and becomes blind to his flaws. It’s call nesting instinct. I have seen this happen to many of my friends — the guy treats them like crap, but since they had or are having sex, they just love these guys so much, when the reality is that they are being played. You can’t talk any sense to them either as they refuse to see what is before their eyes.

Blakely is mature enough to know better and at least control her emotions enough to see whats going on. Jamie is too immature and inexperienced to know better.

Chris was positively vile last night. Whether he had the advantage or not, he never should have used those women. Sarah? Seriously, jumping on Ed’s “pickle,” crying for him, and then getting physical with Chris the next day. What a disgrace to women.

I was glad to see Michael demonstrate such class, integrity, and compassion. Way to go, bro!

Even if women are available, a good guy doesn’t take advantage and exploit them. Chris, was the sex good enough to warrant the pain you inflicted on those women? Jamie may likely be carrying that pain and humiliation for the rest of her life. Shame on you.

You said you loved Emily but do you really know what love is? At least she was smart and savvy enough to see through you. Regardless of how she defends you now, she has not seen the show and is too classy to diss you pubicly.

At this point, Chris’ chances of ever finding a good wide are extremely low. He is left now with cheap party girls, each cheaper than the last. No wonder he looks to empty and soulless. As much as his ego feels gratified by his exploitation, there is no way that many is a happy person.. What person would want to hire or go into business with someone so unsavory and untrustworthy. What he did is more than just playing the game (as Kalon did), what he demonstrated was wanton, callous exploitation of another human being for his own gratification. What a seriously sick individual.

While Jamie clearly made some bad judgment calls, she is naive and inexperienced. Girl, stop seeing yourself as a sex object. A good man will value you for more than your body and if you have to flaunt or use your body to get him, he’s not worth having.

  4. Look, it’s not as if any of these people signing up to be on the show didn’t understand what the show was all about. And undoubtedly the producers know these people well enough to know how they’re going to behave under certain conditions. They’re trying to create drama. If you don’t want the world to think your values are nonexistent (aka Jamie and Chris, to name but a few) don’t go on a TV show where drinking, hooking up, and betraying each other is the object of the game. Go to church or a book club or something else instead. Just sayin’.

  5. Oh, p.s. Nelu: I think you meant Emily was too classy to diss Chris PUBLICly, not PUBICly. Although your word is funnier.

    Comment by old lady — August 14, 2012 @ 12:59 pm

  6. @old lady thanks for pointing out the mistake but I think you meant this for @Lulu not me. It’s an honest mistake since our names are similar. :) )

    Comment by Nelu — August 14, 2012 @ 1:17 pm

  7. Loved what LuLu said in her commentary, and she is right on. I don’t care if this is a “game” show or not. There is “playing the game” to win, and then there is using and abusing people. Womanizing and purposefully tramping on other’s hearts is one of the coldest, most heartless things you can do to another human being. Chris isn’t treating the other’s like humans, but objects/obstacles to get himself to the top. He’s the main reason I am not watching this season.

    Comment by Pamela — August 14, 2012 @ 1:40 pm

  8. PS notice that Michael Stag didn’t womanize and use the other contestants last year and won. “The game” isn’t just about deceiving people. It’s also about gaining trust, AND can be done treating everyone else with dignity and respect. Chris’ excuse (via twitter) that “it’s just a game, like the price is right” is no excuse for the way he is treating and using people.

    Comment by Pamela — August 14, 2012 @ 1:42 pm

  9. I absolutely agree with everything you and Lulu (third commenter) have said. I am especially pleased to see that you are not afraid to call Chris out on his disgusting behavior. I think that Chris and Sarah deserve each other, and do not know how they think they can find someone decent to be with after what we all witnessed last night. Their families must be mortified.

I have no problem with Blakely getting angry, Chris said he was her partner and then he played her and deserted her. She was fighting to win this stupid show, she did not want to be with him.

Poor Jamie. Every woman gets played atleast once in her life, unfortunately hers was on national TV. I hope she is not too humiliated and can move on and find a great guy. She needs to be loved.

  10. Hi Micheal, you seem very sweet and level headed in a fun way! Balancing out the craziness. I’ve just started to watch this and probably will stop now…feeling a little/a lot ill over the “looseness” to put it mildly. And embarrased that i’m contributing to this show. Chris & Ed, double ick. Chris, shame on you for messing with girls heads! People’s lives are of so much more value. So much to say, life is so short. Please, please…If you want it to be more abundant while dating…the book, “Undressed: the naked truth about love, sex and dating”, A Lot helpful. no, I am not the author! It’s just hard to put down. Hopefully your personality (Micheal), will rub off.

    Comment by Faith — August 14, 2012 @ 1:53 pm

  11. Chris makes me sick to my stomach! What a horrible and IMMATURE person he is! He is absolutely disgusting. He leads a sad sad life given that he has the need to exploit women like that. No he doesn’t have to fall in love on a game show. After all people do not fall in love on The Price is Right as Chris put it. But people on The Price is Right treat other people with dignity and respect unlike Chris. He is nasty nasty nasty. Mature at 25? I think not! He will be lucky if he is mature at 50 the way he is going. The fact that he thinks he is cool for doing the things that he is doing makes him worse than a selfish PIG!

Anyway, it makes me so angry that some people think they have the right to do anything they want to other people and then say it’s a game show. No CHRIS AND REID, it is not ok to do what you did even on a game show.

Michael you deserve all the praise in the world for how you are conducting yourself. I hope you win AGAIN and then come on BP4 and win AGAIN. Not too many people have your integrity and character

  12. Great episode!! Sad to see Jamie and David go home though.

  13. Chris is so annoying and hideous – why is he still here? Can we just talk about his creepy mustache? I bet he drives a van with tinted windows and wood trim too. Send him home. He makes me not even want to watch this.

  14. Michael, you are my favorite. You’re absolutely a sweet genuine person and I’m glad to see you think the same way about Chris that I do. It was SO maddening to see Jamie falling for him when he was totally humiliating her. I hope he ends up with no one until his larger than life ego is calmed a little bit.
Keep up your recaps! Love you! Haha & good luck! :)

  15. Great job again Michael. You are an engaging writer and a talented musician and very efficient with your time (as the first one up with the blog). Impressive all around!

  18. I heard about the Price is Right comment. Chris, you are not only an immature PIG, but you don’t even realize what you did was intentionally cruel. I don’t know if there’s any hope for you.

Last year, the people may have partied, but they were also bright, stategic and somewhat respectful (except for two :) , and this year they are cruel losers who are very, very hard to watch.

  19. Love your blog Michael. Am always interested in what you have to say and your take on everything that happened. Happy to see the way things are working out with Rachel. You guys are very sweet together.
Watching Jamie was painful. Oh gosh. No one deserves that.

  20. I must say the commentary is great. I feel bad for Jamie. I’m sure she’ll bounce back though. It’s a learning experience. I’ve gotten played too, but I’m learning from it. She will meet someone worthwhile

  21. Michael, love your blog.

Just want to point out that the phrase “for realz,” “cray cray,” etc. are not unique to Ashley’s blog. Perez has been using such terms for a long time — he should be getting the credit. Not a big fan of Perez, but I know his style of writing and others like to imitate him.

    Comment by Sarah Whitney — August 15, 2012 @ 5:19 am

  22. Michael, you are good looking, cool and smart. I hope you achieve all your dreams, especially for finding the best woman ever. Oh yeah, I liked your blog too, ha ha!

    Comment by Melinda — August 15, 2012 @ 11:43 am

  23. @Lulu, I agree with everything you’re saying…except I’d like to add though, that most guys “try to get some” right away. Not too many guys wait around for a girl to “be ready,” and the older the guy is the worse they are. It’s logical to say if you want a man to respect you then don’t use your body, but let’s be real, men want it or they move on.

    Comment by Jennifer — August 15, 2012 @ 2:03 pm

  24. Michael, love your blog and your insight. You’re a class act and proof that if you’re a nice guy there’s no way these shows can edit you to appear otherwise. I think that’s why you won last season because while you’re fun, you’re also kind, fair and honest (and not cruel).

This season has been all around painful to watch, but I’m sure I’ll be sucked into watching it again next week. ;)

  25. Thank you for the recap shout out Michael! Miss you! Will we be seeing you at the lemonade stand?

    Comment by Ashley Spivey — August 15, 2012 @ 4:30 pm

  26. Chris is a total selfish ass with NO character and Jaime is unfurtunately not very perceptive. This is embarrassing to watch as a representative of the human race. Grow some character along your abs!!

  27. can’t believe michael went home:(

    Comment by lynnie — August 20, 2012 @ 7:05 pm

  28. I don’t even know if it’s worth watching now that Michael is gone. The only other people left that seem to be halfway decent are Tony and Blakely. I would include Rachel, but I don’t like her follower behavior when mean girl Jaclyn takes charge. She let’s herself be influenced and needs to get a backbone! And I include Blakely, because I think she’s gotten a bad rap, and she’s proven herself to be one of the classier, more mature individuals in the house. I’m so sad Michael is gone!
