NATALIE’S BACHELORETTE BLOG: FINALE

Finale:  Finally!

This has been such an anticipated season finale, that it felt like it took forever to come.  Emily is going to introduce the guys to her family today and try to figure out which one she wants to be with for the rest of her life.  Eeeeek!

Emily and Jef:  Emily’s brother didn’t like the skinnys

I LOVE Jef, but he maybe should have left the skinny jeans at home this time.  I remember I brought home a boyfriend one time that was dressed more femininely, and my brother was uncomfortable.  I didn’t know this until after we broke up!  Emily’s father and brother were basically wearing company shirts and were the farthest thing from being stylish and both super masculine.  They probably thought Jef was kidding at first!  The finale is the only episode I don’t get early, so I apologize for the lack of photos.  Jef blends in with Emily’s family just as well as Emily did his.  I wonder if she has met his parents yet?

Emily and Jef are finally alone and Jef is basically begging to meet Ricki.  He explains that if he were going to be a father to her, he would like to meet her first.  Emily finally folds and her and Jef have the sweetest little play date with Ricki.  Jef is great with Ricki and watching him goof around with her made me so happy!

Emily’s outfits this date were insane!  She wore the coolest sarongs with bright neon colors.  Her white bikini was definitely my favorite!  I love her casual style with a basic tank tucked into a long skirt with a cool necklace to jazz it up.  She was also wearing a denim shirt that I think I own and am obsessed with.

At this point, I was watching the DVR and wondering how on Earth she was going to fit in a date with Arie in such a short time…

Emily and Arie:  NUTS!

Emily sits down to talk to Chris H. and is immediately in tears.  She claims she already knows she wants to be with Jef and that her mind is made up.  I have a lot of respect for Emily for doing this and not dragging it out with Arie, however, a part of me disagrees.  It’s not like she was always more about Jef than she was Arie.  She had different feelings for both of them.  She was actually more about Arie than Jef for a long time.  She already took Arie this far and introduced him to her family, so she may as well went on a final date with him and introduced him to Ricki.  Emily may have seen something more to him while he interacted with her daughter.  Ricki is the closest thing to Emily, so if Arie would have hit it off with her, I’m sure Emily would have been extra confused.  Everyone has to make his or her own decision, but I was truly heart broken for Arie.  He better be the next Bachelor!  Oh and PS- if they were sparing his feelings, why on Earth did they let him make love potion all day anticipating Emily’s arrival?  The pain in his eyes had me in tears and I truly wanted it to be those two in the end.  I like Jef a lot, but I’m still team Arie!

Engagement: Worst. Background. Ever.

The long flowing, pink edgy gown Emily wore was hands down the greatest dress I have EVER seen on this show.  She looked as flawless as ever!  This dress was perfect for her personality and for Jef’s liking.  It was elegant but spicy with the metal detail.  I normally don’t like hard metal on dresses, but this was done perfectly!  I thought it was great that Emily didn’t do any of the teasers to Jef, making him think she may not choose him.  Right away, she told him that Arie wasn’t there and that she was so in love with him.  These two are stinkin’ cute!  Jef then pours his heart out to Emily with awful scenery in the background.  Seriously what the hell was that all about?  Past contestants get mountains, glaciers, beaches, etc….and Emily got condo associations in her background?  Sweet.  The ring is gorgeous, she is gorgeous, Jef is gorgeous, Ricki is gorgeous. They are like the perfect little family :)

After The Rose:  ASHLEY AND JP!  Love those two:)

Seeing these two this happy and knowing they have seen each other ever weekend is really cool.  Unlike her emotions with Brad’s after the rose, her face was beaming and full of happiness.  Jef couldn’t contain his happiness either!  The two of them were super cute to watch as they watched themselves get engaged for the first time. Emily played this game perfectly, not allowing anyone in the fantasy suite and not leading Arie any further.  I say this, because most of the relationships end out of jealousy, but Emily made sure to give all her attention to one guy and keep her libido under control!  I bet these two have a televised wedding within the year!

As far as Arie is concerned, I felt so bad for him.  It’s cool he is friends with Jef and that’s helping him through his grieving process, but he still looks devastated.  The fact that he flew all the way to North Carolina was so old school and romantic!  I’m with Arie and I don’t understand what happened.  I think she chose the safer bet.  Jef will never leave her, get an ego or cheat. I don’t know, but I’m still honestly so happy for Jef and Emily.  If Arie weren’t on the show, Jef would have been my top pick!

BACHELOR PAD TIME!  GET READY FOR THE NASTINESS, TEARS AND MANIPULATION.

  1. Emily did the right thing by NOT introducing Arie to Ricki. This is a child who has been through a lot and did not need to have yet another male brought briefly in her life.

And I do not believe for one minute that the positive Jef/Ricki interaction was the only reason Emily chose Jef – I fully believe he was THE ONE all along.

I have been for JEF all along! So happy for this new family. Praying that all goes well for them.

  2. Just wanted to say this was by far the best season of The Bachelorette. That being said, I never thought Arie was right for Emily. Something was off with him. He’s really feminine, when he speaks. Kinda creeped me out. I am sorry he got hurt, but “YOU GO EMILY!!!” You did good. Jef is so adorable. Wow. What a purposal. I never cry at this stuff, but the love you all showed for one another was so perfect. I watched it like 3 times, just because of the purposal. What a man you got. I wish you all nothing but happiness, and that little Ricki, is a doll baby. I know she has to be happy, as well. Ya’ll look so good walking away from the platform last night, and little Rickie just fits with the both of you. What a beautiful little family.
Just wanted to say Many happy years to the three of you,, and thank you for a great season. And one more thing. I really hope you all share your wedding with the world, so we can follow you and share in your joy, too. We come this far with ya’ll, Just saying.!!

Love, Happiness and Joy to all of you.

  5. I will say that Emily picked the PERFECT final three. She knows what she is doing. I would have sais that she picked the perfect final four, but Chris is………….I can’t find the word…………oh yeah, IMMATURE. Anyway, what an embarrassment of riches – Jef, Arie and Sean???
Jef made her more confident of an engagement. Arie was a recent player and she can sense it. LOVE Jef, but Sean would have been such a solid….

  6. I think this was meant to be Jef and Emily are perfect for each other she has waited so long to find the perfect man for her and the perfect step dad for Ricky i believe God has truly blessed this family i wish them all the best. Jef do not let Emily down be true to the words you spoke to her you are a good man and i believe you are very much in love and that you meant every word you spoke of to Emily. You are going to be a great Family Man. Best wishes to you both!!!!

  7. people may say she chose the SAFE guy, so what. i definitely willnot choose some one i feel will dump me along the way. I am so happy for her and Jef. They are just perfect. You can see the love in their eyes, especially with Jef. i dont care how he dresses (i think his hipster outfits are cool by the way) what matters are his intentions and i see him sticking around with Emily and Ricki and future little Holms lol. I wish them all the best. Go JEM!!!!!

  8. Good recap Natalie – I agree that Jef was safer choice. Hope they make it…for Ricki’s sake.

    Comment by Robyn — July 23, 2012 @ 6:06 pm

  9. I don’t think Jef was the “safe” choice. He was the right choice for Emily and Ricki. I think Arie is a great catch for a single girl who only has to worry about herself. I think it is fine to be team Arie in liking him as a person, but I don’t think he was right for Emily.

    Comment by Elizabeth — July 23, 2012 @ 6:53 pm

  10. I absolutely adore both Emily and Jef and they belong together. They bring out the best in each other and any, ANY, girl would be out of her mind to think that Jef was not sincere. The look absolutely in love and what a beautiful little family they are beginning to form! Wish them a lifetime of love, happiness, and joy with one another. P.S. Happy birthday Mr. Holm! I believe you got all that you asked for

    Comment by Armina — July 23, 2012 @ 7:08 pm

  11. I totally agree with you!! Actually, when I saw that Emily was going to dump Arie, I was wondering “What if Arie had his final date first and asked Emily to meet Ricki…. Here goes the what if game again…” (Please, if you see this, tell me what you think it would’ve happened!) And than that went on… and I saw the setting of the proposal and literally thought it was a new commercial… and than I told myself “Did they just put the setting in front of an appartment?!” -.- Felt kinda bad though…. :(

  12. PS: I love you Nataliee!! I wasn’t watching The Bachelor when Jason was on, but I did watch you kill it on BP! :) And I love Aslhley and JP too ♥ :) And now Jef and Emily…. but I do feel bad for Arie :(

  13. I agree she went with the safer choice – Jef seems like a really good, nice, sensible choice.

    I would’ve chosen Arie. HOT.

    Comment by That girl — July 23, 2012 @ 7:53 pm

  14. Jef all the way. He was the most sincere, romantic and funniest of all the guys. Lets also not forget the smartest too. She didn’t just pick him because he was safe. I believe they will make it and they do have passion I am sure, but who wants to show it on national television. I am sure they show it in private.

    Comment by leah — July 23, 2012 @ 8:13 pm

  15. I think that Jef and Emily are perfect together. Jef is beyond wonderful, and half of North America fell in love with him too.

I felt badly seeing Arie’s pain, but I agree with an above poster, there is something creepy about him. I couldn’t stand how he was always kissing Emily with his hands all over her face and hair, it gave me the repulsed shivers.

JP is a man who knows how to kiss…Arie should watch reruns of Ashley and JP’s season to see how it is done.

I hope that things turn out as beautifully as it looks like they should with Jef and Emily. He was such a refreshing change from the other bachelors. Jef should run for political office, he reminds me of a young JFK.

    Great choice, Emily!

    Comment by Karen — July 23, 2012 @ 8:49 pm

  16. Gotta disagree with you Natalie.
She knew it was Jef ALL along. I’m sure seeing him play with Ricki was NOT the defining moment for if she wanted to get engaged a 3rd time.

She knew it was Jef 100% and him meeting Ricki only made her 110% sure. I bet the whole “I don’t know” thing was a play to get the audience guessing.

All us teamjef fans get it – when Jef said that he has never met 2 people more perfect for each other, that GET each other, us fans can see it. He knows exactly how to make her laugh, exactly what she’s thinking (fantasy date when he rejected her), knows to ask the right questions, talks about life after their marriage (Prague date) – no other guy did that from what we saw (I’m 100% sure producers would have shown it if the other guys did, but they didn’t) and usually in other dates its EMILY asking what the guys want in a life after marriage.

They are literally perfect with each other.

And honestly, just a final note to the teamsean members who hated on Jef and Emily….just because someone is perfect on paper, doesn’t mean that’s what makes them perfect for you. Sean was perfect on paper, but they did not have that connection, and that’s the end of it.

    Comment by Lynn — July 23, 2012 @ 9:26 pm

  17. exactly Emily is too insecure to choose Arie so she chose Jef who would never leave her. Emily definitely wants to have the upper hand in the relationship and that is not what she is going to have with Arie.

I think if Emily was not a single mom she would have chosen Arie.

    Comment by confused — July 24, 2012 @ 12:04 am

  18. agree with BB! Ashley’s love story with JP was so touching and had such depth to it> Ironically the Bentley drama turned out to be a good thing. We saw them communicate so well and oh he was so sexy and she was such a doll, beaming around him and melting in his arms.

    Comment by confused — July 24, 2012 @ 12:08 am

  19. I agree Em and Jef are a better match, and am truly happy for them. She is too insecure and Arie would have to keep proving himself to her which would also be unfair to him. He is a better fit for someone who is more confident in herself. And Em is a better fit for someone like Jef. So, all’s well.

    Comment by RHP — July 24, 2012 @ 7:44 am

  20. Jef and Emily definitely had the deeper connection! He was my pick before the spoilers came out and I was thrilled to know I observed their growing connection correctly.

I am disappointed though that they are not asking the questions we all have in their recent interviews, like: Did Emily meet Jef’s parents before ATFR? If his mom was there, why didn’t they have her on? If Jef isn’t practicing Mormon but is active in church, does that mean he attends another Christian church of some kind? Supposedly they are going to Africa soon, none of the interviews have really delved into the trip or details.

Regardless, I hope and pray that like Trista and Ryan, that they are the exception rather than the rule, and have a wonderful and long life together.

And if ABC wants to have a Bachelor that actually hasa chance of a successful relationship out of the show. They need to convince Sean to do it. He is ready, sincere, a gentleman and would be very serious about picking the right person for him. The’ve been doing better with the selection of people to choose from so I think Sean would do great.

    Comment by Robin — July 24, 2012 @ 8:46 am

  21. I loved this episode. The proposal was beautiful. I like that Emily made her decision to send Arie home early too. I hope that becomes trendy to do, I don’t like to see a guy get down on one knee and get rejected, that’s soooo sad. I would rather be sent home early.

I totally agree with her decision to pick Jef. He showers her with love and attention and treats her special and I thinks that’s exactly what Emily is truly looking for and Jef is a pro at it because he truly loves Emily. I hope this couple really gets married and does a reality show, I’d love to see their story.

  22. Good to see Ashely and JP, can’t wait for their wedding. I hope they share it with the world!! Ashley was such a fun bachelorette.

  23. Love your blog Natalie and I definitely agreed with everything that you have said. However just to add I think that Emily is very bossy and although she said she would move for Jef, she had Jef move for her instead, I think she will control Jef and have him like the little boy as he looks where as with Arie she knew she cannot do that at all. I hated how she treated Arie and she will get what coming to her soon, I think Arie dodged a huge bullet! Love you Arie!

    Comment by Akesha — July 24, 2012 @ 10:37 am

  24. Chris Harrison said yes it was Arie for a long time but that after London, Jef was growing more in leaps and bounds with Emily. Also Emily even talked about how her and Arie didn’t talk, and how they just seemed to always kiss. She knew the physical was there but was there emotional stuff? I agree though with the assessment of if she was single and no child, yes I think she may have gone with Arie, but I have to say, her scenes with Jef are very convincing too. She saw the long term with Jef, she didn’t see forever with Arie and she looked not that torn up whe talking to him on the couch. I think if she wanted him back, she would have seen him when he flew out there, read his journal, or pulled a Mesnick.
Her and Jef are nerdy and they seem to really get each other, so since I don’t know any of them personally…I am just going on what they have said and wish them the best, because who am I to say what “really” happend.

  27. I love the happiness you can see on Emily’s face. My favorite moment is definitely the letter Jef wrote Emily and the part where she closed her eyes for a few seconds. You could tell that she was so overwhelmed by joy, contentment and happiness.

Jef’s mom was in the audience btw. It was the first lady who said hi to Emily in the white dress.

  29. So disappointed in her. Gave her a second chance and she blew it. She treated Arie so badly in the end. She lead him on the whole way. Doesn’t anyone have a problem with her making out the whole day and night the previous week? She certainly went SAFE. And I think she still loves Arie. I think she will regret it, I love they are best friends but she is a 26 year old girl and never once mentions she loves to kiss him. It is just weird. Sorry. TEAM ARIE

    Comment by Becca — July 24, 2012 @ 6:15 pm

  30. Sorry Natalie but that was an AWFULL Final Rose dress. Dragged Emily down and yeah the background setting was not so great. It seems that Arie got the short of the stick throughout. People were nitpiking on him on the forums on a couple of things. I don’t think he’s creepy. Chris is even worse. Sad that he did not get to meet Ricky but I think Emily will pick Jef all along. He’s the safe bet. Not sure if anyone noticed but Emily usually starts some of the kissing with Arie. Hope he gets a refund for that potion. As for Emily and Jef good to them. Honestly. Arie deserves a woman secure enough to be with him. I hope he will meet that woman one day.

  31. I’m going to order a life-like silicone doll that looks just like Emily. It doesn’t talk back or express opinions so that’s great and it’s warm and I can even cuddle with it. If anyone is interested, just google “silicone dolls.” You have to make sure you clean all the orifices regularly though. And don’t beat up the dolls – I banged up one of my dolls and her face is deformed and I am so mad at myself for my stupid mistake! I am going to order soon and am so excited and it takes a long time to type with one hand!

  32. Sorry, by “life-like” I mean human size. You should google “life-like human scale silicone dolls.” Best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I have 3 sitting in my apartment (Kelli, Mandi & Cyndi). Best thing I have EVER done for myself.

  33. Nat, you are SO on point with Emily’s styles and outfits!…..and OMG….!…i was thinking the SAME THIng about the back ground!…..but then, i thought …..it is probably BEST that the background was SO lame!…..to keep the focus on what is important!….the 2 of them….they have enough beauty and love to rival any picturesque background!….but seriously, that was CRay !…..

Also, i truly believe that Jef’s early on “aloofness” and “chill vibe”….made him a “challenge” to her…..THAT WORKED BIG TIME in his favor!……women need a challenge too!….(not like a mind f challenge…but something to conquer!….)….Jef played that roll perfectly!!!….but NOT to a fault like DOUG…..pulled back just enough, then when she couldn’t stand it anymore….he opened the flood gates….and the generosity and love came pouring out and never let up!……ALOT can be learned by young men….if they use “Jef’s game” as a ROLe Model!….that boy got it going on, naturally!……

GREAT Love STory!…..i too felt bad for Arie that they allowed him to make “love potion” all day long…..should have considered another activity in light of the direction of her next move…..poor guy!…..he would be a GREAT bachelor!….50 shades of Arie!…..oh well, GREAT BLOG this Season, NatGetz!…..looking forward to all your “BP3 bloggin!!! “……xoxoxooxo Pam

  34. @ Bachobserver_31 – After everything that I’ve seen you post on the ABC Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad boards, I’m not surprised that your life consists of “relationships” with life-like silicone dolls. How utterly perfect for you!

    Comment by Sophie — July 25, 2012 @ 10:38 pm

  35. Here is my personal opinion regarding Arie and Emily’s relationhip this season…Arie would’ve been a great father to Ricki. I like the fact that Arie and Ricki’s father had the passion for racing. This would’ve been good exposure for Ricki. It could be the “connection” Ricki and Arie could’ve shared. Also, I LOVED the passion Emily and Arie had. I dated and been married to my husband for the past 27 years. The first time I kissed him, I knew I was going to marry him. I believe a connection like that does not happen all the time. Emily and Arie’s instant connection during their first date was so strong, I thought he would be the last man standing. I am 45 years old and don’t see enough “passion” in marriages. People hope to find it. In this society, an environment filled with strong love and passion are things kids do not see enough of.

I wish the Bachelor/Bachelorette producers would allow the final 2 to spend 1 week “off camera” before the proposal. It has to be hard to commit to marriage after meeting somebody for a couple of months. And, sharing that time with 25 guys/gals?
