Paige Vigil’s Bachelor Pad Blog: Episode 3

This episode was SO hard for me to watch! I could barely stand seeing the demise of the relationship between Reid and Ed. Literally, I was watching with one hand over my face, peering between my fingers.

As Reid put it…he caused a little bit of drama, and by a little bit, I think he means a lot.  But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

The challenge this week is an obstacle course. In this challenge, the contestants on the Bachelor Pad are playing as couples; there is however a twist (of course).  While the contests believe they have the luxury of choosing their own partners, it turns out to be quite the opposite and the contestants are randomly placed together.  I was pretty honest in saying that I don’t think I would have excelled in rhythmic gymnastics, but I do believe I would have kicked butt during the obstacle course because I am extremely competitive, almost to a fault.  The couples are essentially doing a relay, when the girls complete the course they tag their partners and the guys finish the competition.  I am positive that this obstacle course is harder then it looks, as that was certainly the case with the “Falling Out of Love” competition. As I said in my last blog, it is becoming clear that Dave is a force to be reckoned with. Michael seriously surprises me every episode, as he is clearly one of, if not the most competitive guy in the house!  Michael and Dave essentially tie and the tape even had to be reviewed in order to determine the winners.  Finally the winning couple is crowned and it is…David and Rachel!  Both David and Rachel get to pick 3 guys/gals to bring on separate dates with them.

The three girls Dave picks to take on the date are: Jamie, Blakeley and Erica.  Smart, yet surprising choices.  I am certainly surprised that Dave chose Erica since there’s so much tension within their relationship.  However, this may have been the smartest choice he could make, since he has the chance to mend the one relationship that’s rockiest for him.  I’m also surprised he didn’t choose Donna.  At this point in the game, he hasn’t really made any romantic connections with anyone that is left in the house. Therefore, I would assume he would both take Donna and give her the rose, since she is the only fan left and would be the one person he could be sure would be in his alliance until the end. For David’s date the four of them go back to the Prom.  The girls get to pick dresses, there’s a band, and balloons…it really looked like a prom!  I thought it was really sweet how Jamie attempted to call a truce with Blakeley, and if I were Blakeley, I definitely would have jumped at the opportunity to form a better relationship with a fellow competitor. Later on, when Blakeley was talking with David, I felt as if I was missing something when Blakeley kept saying that David “owed” her.  From what I remember, David promised to vote whichever way Blakeley wanted in the last rose ceremony if she had given David the rose during the date, which she did not.  It also seemed as if Kalon and Lindzi were the ones who started the campaign to keep David around, not Blakeley.  Am I wrong, perhaps some details snuck past me here?  Jamie gets the rose at the end of the date, which was a romantic, not strategic decision on Dave’s end.  Sadly, I don’t think Jamie is feeling their chemistry nearly as much as Dave is. Their picture kissing was SO precious, seriously…it made me wish they were going to be a couple in this game!

Back at the house, things are getting steamy in the hot tub.  Looks like a lot of people are coupling up! Who is your favorite?  Of course, we all adore Michael and Rachel but I really like Kalon and Lindzi. I think they’re a really unexpected couple, but I can definitely see how they get along and their chemistry is so palpable, it’s awesome!

Rachel’s date card arrives and she decides to take: Nick, Tony and of course, Michael.  We don’t really have to guess who is getting the rose on this date.  In my estimate, this is the best Bachelor Pad 3 date yet.  The four of them go to Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum.  I have been a little creeped out by wax figures after seeing House of Wax a few years ago…however, the practical joke portion of this date is PRICELESS.  Rachel, Michael, Nick and Tony are all going to be made to look like wax figures and then scare the fans!  I was honest to God cracking up watching this…Michael seemed like he was really having fun with it.  They really looked like wax figures too, they were so still! Michael gets the rose at the end of the date and assures Rachel, who is being extremely pessimistic about their puppy love, that is he genuinely into her.  I hope we see Rachel become more giddy and secure in their relationship as the season progresses.

The love triangle with Chris, Blakeley and Jamie continues back at the house.  At this point, I can’t get myself into Jamie’s head to understand why she is going back for more.  She just saw him kissing Blakeley a few nights ago but wants to continue trying?  I think she needs to go home and watch, He’s Just Not That Into You…especially after hearing Chris say, “it’s not you, it’s me”…classic.  I did feel bad seeing Jamie cry…it’s never fun to be rejected like that.

I feel like I am watching Reid slowly burn at the stake during episode 3 and I wish I was there to douse him with water.  His plan is a major fail.  I can understand logically what he is attempting to do, but he’s going about it the wrong way.  It’s definitely on like Donkey Kong between Reid and Ed.  I could barely watch the confrontation in the hot tub.  Reid DEFINITELY needed to own up to things at this point especially since he knows that Ed is on to him.

This may seriously be the most dramatic rose ceremony ever!  Once the cocktail party began, the tension got so thick I could feel it sitting at home on my couch…I think I was actually holding my breath! Blakeley, Donna, Ed and Reid are the ones on the chopping block.  Nick and Donna canoodle and share a kiss and in my not so expert opinion, the two of them seemed to have a lot more chemistry then she had with Michael.  Reid then makes the cringe worthy mistake of going to Jaclyn and telling her Ed is leaving and he’d like to partner with her post-rose ceremony.  Jaclyn is Ed’s closest confidant in the house; of course she is going to have his back, Reid!  Jaclyn immediately goes to Ed with this new information and the two of them begin to scheme.  Reid would have been better off waiting to approach Jaclyn until after the rose ceremony.  Kalon played both sides and so did Sarah, giving each of them the swing vote.  Kalon has been doing this the whole time, which has worked for him so far.  Sarah’s decision will be based off of one of two things: emotion or logic.  She’ll make a decision based on emotion because she would want to right her wrong with Ed; logic because she would be staying within her alliance.

Sadly, Donna and Reid end up being the man and woman eliminated.  Reid says, “Bachelor Pad is a sick, deceptive place.”  It really is, he is right…the more we get into the season, the more we are beginning to see that. Donna says in the limo “I would have never thought that a guy would like vote me off, ever. I am just so used to them throwing themselves at me. But they’re going to regret it, watch…when I am not around in my bikini, they’re going to be pissed”…honestly, bless the girl, but she could have used a piece of humble pie there!

Next week looks interesting.  Looks like the love triangle between Chris, Blakeley and Jamie is going to come screeching to an abrupt halt.  I can’t wait to see how this is going to play out!

  4. Paige! You write so well, and have the unique perspective of someone who was in the house long enough to know everyone but not to have actually been there to see it live, so its a really interesting mix. Too bad you didn’t stay… Reid could have used a voice of reason! Now maybe you two can be together outside the show though. I hear there’s a Bachelor reunion coming up… ;)
Anyway great blog and looking forward to the next one!

  5. Paige, I think you are awesome. I wish you had stayed around longer, but it’s great to hear from you this way. I love that we get to hear the opinion of someone who is “just like us,” a fan of the show! Keep the commentaries coming!!!

  6. Like others, I wish you had stayed longer too, but maybe you will get another chance. Good recap on the episode. I agree about Donna, my gosh she boasted so many times about how men fall all over her. Time for some humble pie indeed.

  7. Great blog!
I totally hated Kalon during The Bachelorette but have to say I am liking him a lot during B.P. He and Lindzi are very cute together.

  9. Paige, if you had used spray tanning, put some color in your hair and alot more makeup you probably would’ve lasted longer. B-Pad is kinda a ronchy drunkeness party. Your a big girl now, try using your feminin side more.

  10. Did you write this for Teen Beat? No, there’s nothing romantic about watching people suddenly ending up in bed together after making out, and no one is actually rooting for any of these couples. They just look odd to me.

I don’t even know why you’re writing this blog. I can’t remember you – were you just the fan & then out? And the only pic in here is of you…what a surprise.

  11. Allissa- Why do you feel the need to pick out every negative thing out of every blog? It’s really annoying. Paige seems like a wonderful girl. Yes, she is a fan. But if you are watching the BPAD and the Bachelor/Bachelorette, then you are a fan too. This blog is well-written, not even close to Teen Beat. I’ve read Teen Beat before and it’s sh!t. You seriously need to find a way better way to spend your time than writing mean things on peoples comments. @Paige- Great blog! Ignore people who are talking poorly of you as that is just silly and you’re better than that! :)

  12. Eeegads!!! Don’t spray tan, change your hair color, or wear more makeup. Ick. You look beautiful and classy now.

  13. Allisa,

I agree with you. Seriously, get a life. Appearing on this idiot show doesn’t make you special. You were just a fan and appeared only on one episode. Now you suddenly are a star? I guess you just appeared to gain publicity for yourself.

Yes, you were “classy” next to the usual tramps who populate the pad, but you still were immature, talking about elephants peeing, trying to get it on with Reid (yes, really classy.) and your boy crazy exultations — on Chris and others.

YOu look like a wannabe sleaze, just hadn’t had the opportunity yet.

No one responds to your blog because no one knows who the hell you are, but I guess is SWAT can appear, why not you.

  16. No where on the blog does Paige say that she is a star. I don’t think any of the contestants qualify as “celebrities.” She is merely commenting on the episode, as do many, many others who watch it. The difference is that she has met these people, unlike many other fans. Lighten up, people! Paige, I enjoyed your blog and thought you seemed very down-to-earth and real on the show. In fact, you were probably too normal to stick around in an environment where the crazy prosper!
