Paige Vigil’s Bachelor Pad Blog: Episode 2

Watching Episode 2 is a real reminder of what I missed out on this season, though I am excited to watch it all unfold. There was so much drama this episode, as Jaclyn put it, the Bachelor Pad has turned into a “circus freak show” – which means we have a lot of recapping to do!

Let’s jump right into this…The rhythmic gymnastics challenge is genius.  Watching the guys warm up is like watching gorillas try to dance. I had to rewind this and watch it again because it is so funny!  The girls didn’t prove to be any better.  I really don’t think I would excel in this challenge as I can be pretty uncoordinated… I have actually fallen on my butt when trying to dance before.  Erica should have gone and put on pants once she realized what the challenge was, though I think that doing gymnastics in a dress could be considered a hidden talent.   Michael and Blakeley got the roses after the challenge and I could not be happier that they both chose to take newbies on the dates with them. (Michael really deserved that rose…did you see him fluttering his feet?) The fact that Donna and Dave got to have this experience makes me really happy (and a little jealous if I am being honest).

Michael’s date is first and he takes: Donna, Lindzi and Rachel.  I think it’s great that Michael made his decision based off of who he could possibly fall in love with versus what he deems good strategy.  They go to a private concert and are all excited to see their names splashed across the marquee.  Watching Donna’s joy over being on this date is so fun.  Her eyes are twinkling and her grin is from ear to ear!  The kiss between Donna and Michael looked playful, but watching the kiss between Michael and Rachel was ever better!  Their chemistry was so apparent and the kiss was so passionate.  I could definitely see Rachel and Michael being a couple as well as a force to reckon with in the house. I hope that was the first of many kisses we see this season between the two of them! I do wish however that we could have seen some time between Lindzi and Michael, I am curious to what they talked about.  No surprise, Rachel gets the rose!

Let’s analyze the love triangle we see happening between Jamie, Blakeley and Chris.  I actually like all three of them and think all of them are great individually, but together it seems like they’re stuck in the middle of tornado alley.  I don’t think that Jamie’s strategy of going with Chris is the smartest idea after seeing how possessive Blakeley could be. Jamie said she thinks Chris is the only way she’d make it to the end, but I don’t see that as being true.  Chris may be good looking, but he did fall out of the heart first in the last challenge with Blakeley, so he may not be the best competitor.  Her current partner, Ryan however played professional football and I could see him being very competitive in upcoming challenges.  I don’t think Blakeley being so intense with Chris early on was not a smart choice either as it is still every man for him/herself at this point.  She could easily find another partner who would love to be with someone who is such a strong competitor and wouldn’t two-time and lie to her.  Lastly, I understand that Chris wants to keep the ladies happy, as they are after-all voting him off.  However, doing the wrong thing for the right reason ($250K) is still the wrong thing.  His game would have been much stronger if he just stuck with Blakeley or was upfront with her about wanting to partner with Jamie!  My heart just broke for Jamie when she went looking for Chris and found him in bed with Blakeley.

Blakeley decides to take Chris, Ed and Dave on the date with her.  I thought it was really awesome that she decided to take Dave even though the other two gentlemen were opposed to the idea.  She is definitely a strong women who can stand her ground! Their date looked like a blast!  Chris had such a sourpuss attitude towards Dave that he should have checked prior to the date.  Ed won the race and got the soapbox derby trophy!  I loved that Ed didn’t take the date so seriously; it wasn’t a challenge after all!  After the race, the four of them go back to the house that the Bachelor/Bachelorette stays at while filming.  Dave pulls Blakeley aside and tells her if she gives him the rose that he will vote whatever way she wants against the girls.  I thought that was really smart!  Dave made a bad move strategically in the last episode revealing his master plan but I think this proves that he is a strategic player! Despite Dave’s attempt, the rose goes to Chris.

Moving on…I have always wanted a sister, but watching the twins makes me happy that my best friend Samantha is the closest thing I have.  I have never heard two people constantly bicker as much as these two girls do, I don’t know how the can take it!  Ultimately, they decide they can’t stand each other anymore and they both leave the house on their own doing before the rose ceremony!  I wish this melt down had happened a week earlier so I could have stayed!

Rose ceremony time.  Since the twins left, only one man will be voted off in the rose ceremony this week.  The ladies decide to save Dave and eliminate a veteran.  I love this idea; it switches up the game a bit and gives Dave some extra time in the house.  Ed has a vote in his favor since he did the “least best” during the challenge.  Ryan however, seemed to be the general consensus until Reid began to campaign to have Ed voted off.  I don’t know if Reid sticking his neck out two rose ceremonies in a row was a smart idea.  We’ll see how this plays out for him in the future. I am obviously Team Reid and am hopeful that this won’t hurt him later in the game.  Seems to be as if Jamie has the swing-vote in this situation and decides to vote against Ryan.  The choices of the people who hold the swing-votes this season have really shocked me!  I get that Jamie wanted to be a free agent but after she saw Chris and Blakeley together kissing in bed together, I would assume that she would know Chris was no longer a smart choice. I was really sad to see my fellow Minnesotan, Ryan, sent home but am happy that we get to see more of Ed’s shenanigans as the season moves forward.

Next week looks epic! I am really excited to see the romance with Kalon and Lindzi continue to unfold and the clash of Reid and Ed
